Director's Statement

The Uniondale High School Band program is very influential in the foundation of my artistic form of expression. It’s the band culture that made life different for me. The way Mr. Abel teaches, encourages, and motivates is different from anything I have ever witnessed before. When his personality is partnered with the musicianship of Mr. Wynter it truly creates a special blend. At its deepest it is important to me that this combination and passion is shared with the entire world.

SYNOPSIS

Uniondale High School Marching Band Director, Frank Abel, is one of a kind in his ability to teach young kids discipline and respect through music. "It's Showtime" is a short-documentary about the 2009-2010 Uniondale High School Marching Band. This short takes you on a journey introducing you to several of the students and shows their unique performance from the NEWSDAY Battle of the Bands and International competition held in Quebec, Canada.

Fall in love with the purity of music, and see how Marching Band Director Frank Abel and Concert/Jazz Band Director Colton Wynter teach their students a disciplined art form.
